MediGene Appoints Dr Hans Joachim Bochtler as Vice President Clinical Research & Development

Martinsried/Munich, September 15, 2008. MediGene AG (Frankfurt, Prime
Standard: MDG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Hans Joachim
Bochtler, MD, as Vice President Clinical Research & Development. Dr
Bochtler succeeds Dr Axel Mescheder, who was appointed Executive
Board Member for Research & Development in May 2008. Dr Bochtler is a
physician with long-standing management experience in clinical
research and development at both international pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies. Most recently, he served as Chief Scientific
Officer of Fresenius Biotech GmbH.

Dr Axel Mescheder, MediGene's Executive Board Member for Research &
Development, commented: "We are very pleased to have secured such a
highly qualified expert for MediGene AG in Dr Bochtler. As a seasoned
oncology specialist with comprehensive international experience in
the development and approval of drugs, he is an ideal fit for this
position. Dr Bochtler is a physician and beyond his R&D expertise he

combination of skills provides an ideal background qualification for
the advancement of MediGene's innovative drug candidates to
marketable and competitive products."

Dr Hans Joachim Bochtler studied Biology in Ulm and Human Medicine in
Göttingen, Ulm, and Munich. After working as an assistant physician
at Munich's University Hospital Rechts der Isar in 1993, he moved on
to the biopharmaceutical industry, where he worked as Medical Advisor
Oncology at Bristol-Myers Squibb GmbH & Co. KgaA in Munich for three
years. He returned to Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1999 after holding
positions as Medical Marketing Manager at Smith Kline Beecham Pharma
GmbH and Head of Clinical Research at Amgen GmbH, both in Munich. At
Bristol-Myers Squibb, he served as Director Medical Oncology and
subsequently as Director Sales & Marketing in the oncology division.
Since 2005, Dr Bochtler had been Head of Global Scientific & Medical
Affairs / Chief Scientific Officer at Fresenius Biotech GmbH in
Munich. He will take up his position at MediGene on September 15,
2008

Dr Bochtler, the new Vice President Clinical Research & Development
