Peter Balzer, member of the Executive Board and responsible for the
Operations division, is leaving the company on 30 April 2008 at his
own request in order to follow a new path in his professional life.

Peter Balzer began working as the Head of Logistics (IT, central
logistic services, company organisation) in November 2001 and from
2002 to 2003, he successfully managed the merger of the two logistic
departments of the former Coop Leben and that of National.

As Head of Operations since 2005, he has been responsible for IT,
central services, the set-up of process management and the overall
coordination of numerous strategic implementation projects. The Board
of Directors and Executive Board would like to thank Mr Balzer for
his unfailing commitment to Nationale Suisse and wish him every
success and happiness for the future.

Wolfgang Gemünd, Head of Business Unit 1, will take over
responsibility for the Operations division pending the appointment of
Mr Balzer's successor.
