Komax Group: Introduction of short-time working

Komax Group to introduce short-time working to its wire processing
machines activities at Dierikon as of January 2009.

In response to the changed economic situation, the Komax Group will
be introducing short-time working to its wire processing machine
activities at its Dierikon site as of January. The move will affect
employees in Production and Logistics. The Group supplies a large
proportion of its machines for wire processing and wire harness
production to the automotive industry, the household appliances
market and electronics market. Komax generates approximately 40
percent of its sales in the automotive industry.

Since November the Komax Group has experienced a sharp drop in the
number of orders for new machines placed by the automotive industry,
which has been particularly hard hit by the downturn. Despite the
current drop in orders, Komax expects a good result for 2008 from its
wire processing business. However, a drop of 20 to 30 percent should
be expected in 2009.

In addition to its wire processing business, Komax produces assembly
systems for the photovoltaic and medical technology industries. Both
these areas continue to perform well.

The preliminary results for 2008 will be published on 20 January
2009.
