Kölleda, 19 February 2009 - Funkwerk AG (ISIN DE0005753149) ended the
2008 financial year with earnings (EBIT) and cash flow results above
projections. According to the preliminary figures now available, the
specialist in professional communication and information systems
listed in the Prime Standard reports stable sales of some ¤ 290m
(2007: ¤ 290.6m) for the preceding financial year, despite the
adverse global economic conditions. At around ¤ 13m (2007: ¤ 14.4m),
the operating result (EBIT) exceeded all expectations and includes
special effects from acquisitions in the amount of some ¤ 6m.

A further positive trend was seen in the free cash flow incl.
acquisitions. At around ¤ 10m
(2007: ¤ -15,5m), this figure, too, clearly surpassed the forecast.

As a stabilising factor with positive effects on the business trend
of Funkwerk particularly in the last quarter, the company stated the
focus of its individual segments on different customer target groups.
This helped compensate the massive decline in Automotive
Communication due to drastic production cuts in the automobile sector
with sales trends in Traffic & Control Communication (communication
and information systems for transport companies) and Security
Communication (object protection, video monitoring and personal
security solutions) that were at times above projections.

Based on the latest preliminary figures, this trend is continuing in
the current financial year. With restructuring of the company's
fourth segment - Enterprise Communication - now completed, the trend
here for 2009 is also on the up. The Traffic & Control Communication
and Security Communication segments are set to develop steadily.
Automotive Communication will require further adjustment to the
changed market conditions.

In view of the continuing uncertainty in the markets, Funkwerk will
not publish target figures for 2009 until a later date.
