Market stimulation above expectations - satisfying order position
Dortmund: ELMOS Semiconductor AG (FSE: ELG) increased sales of the
3rd quarter 2009 by 40.9% over the previous quarter and reached a
positive EBIT. While sales of 35.5 million Euro are considerably
below the prior-year level (Q3 2008: 42.6 million Euro), the
significant recovery of business shows in the course of the year 2009
(Q1 2009: 22.6 million Euro / Q2 2009: 25.2 million Euro).
The company generated a gross profit of 19.9 million Euro in the
first nine months. This corresponds with a 65.8% reduction in
comparison with the previous year (9M 2008: 58.1 million Euro);
however, the improvement of the quality of results from the 2nd
quarter 2009 to the 3rd quarter 2009 was disproportionately high. The
gross profit gained 9.6 million Euro over this quarterly period of
comparison to reach 12.4 million Euro (Q2 2009: 2.8 million Euro).
In consequence, operating result and EBIT also improved in comparison
with the previous quarter (operating result Q2 2009: -9.6 million
Euro vs. Q3 2009: 0.3 million Euro / EBIT Q2 2009: -9.9 million Euro
vs. Q3 2009: 0.1 million Euro). Thus a balanced EBIT was realized one
quarter earlier than predicted in the half-year report. At -0.3
million Euro, the net result for the period turned out much better
than in the previous quarter as well (Q2 2009: -7.5 million Euro).
Both operating cash flow and free cash flow were positive in the 3rd
quarter 2009 and amounted to 2.7 million Euro and 2.5 million Euro,
respectively. Cash and cash equivalents were maintained at a high
level (40.8 million Euro).
"The satisfying sales of the quarter under review are accounted for
by a volume of orders beyond expectations, partly on short notice,
and our consistent capability to supply - particularly with regard to
new starts of production", says Dr. Anton Mindl, CEO of ELMOS
Semiconductor AG. "We are expecting this positive trend to keep up
until the end of the year 2009."
Based on nine months, ELMOS achieved sales of 83.3 million Euro (9M
2008: 133.5 million Euro), the EBIT came to -18.7 million Euro (9M
2008: 14.2 million Euro), and the net loss amounted to -14.0 million
Euro (9M 2008: net income of 9.7 million Euro).
